EU AI Act

The EU's risk-tiered AI law: unacceptable-risk practices are banned outright, high-risk systems carry the heaviest obligations, and limited-risk systems mainly carry transparency duties. Its obligations are phasing in over several years — prohibited practices and AI literacy duties took effect in February 2025, general-purpose AI obligations in August 2025, and general application with transparency duties in August 2026, with the high-risk system obligations following in later phases.
